In this third sequel to "Planet of the Apes," the apes turn the tables on the human Earth population when they lead a revolt against their cruel masters in the distant year of 1990. By doing this it creates the time loop that leads to the first film. "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" is cinematically etched in broad, brash strokes slashing social satire and science fiction suspense with large-scale spectacle.

Critics Consensus

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is as angry and relevant as any of its predecessors, but budget constraints and a stale script rob this revolution of the scope it requires.

Conrad C While a return to action is appreciated, it should not have come at the price it did. There are plot holes big enough to march and army of apes through, and that's despite some glaringly obvious exposition scattered throughout. The plot is utterly unbelievable, not helped by how some developments are not explained at all. The saving grace of the movie, though, is the return to the excitement of the earlier films. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Audience Member This movie could’ve been a lot better, the exciting ending to the previous movie wasn’t justified in this movie as much or at all. I still think this movie isn’t bad, but it had a lot more potential than what it was given. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Gnm 5 What can I say, I’m a boomer and like the movies I remember my dad taking me to. It’s locked in w those “fond” memories. I haven’t seen the 2nd and 3rd films in awhile, but I just watched the first and this 1 again. The first 1 was the best I think. The concept was new, the acting was good, and the extras really looked great! I thought the story line was interesting and makeup was great. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Pedro Henrique C This achievement is a total joke, I know the film is from the 70s and has a terrible script. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Joshua H I don't really know what to make of this, there's a lot that works especially on the way it tackles slavery in an effective way but throughout the entire movie I was just meh like none of it's bad but none of it's great. I didn't really get to know the new lead Caesar that well which doesn't help. So yeah it's fine I guess just doesn't leave clamouring for more.
